Red Sails In The Sunset

         偶然在一堆旧CD里翻出这套1995年由读者文摘出版的《Thanks For The Memories》CD。这是一辑英文老歌专集。信手翻开CD册子，眼光被Red Sails In The Sunset（落日红帆） 这首著名歌曲的介绍文字所吸引。原来这首歌的缘起还有段故事。

         时间回到1930年代，歌词作家Johnny Kennedy 和他的画家妹妹有一天傍晚在爱尔兰多内格（Donegal）一处临海悬崖，迎着海风，看着壮丽无比的海上落日奇景，被夕照晚霞染红的点点归帆似乎正徐徐航向逐渐沉入大海的巨大火轮里 …………… 惊叹之余，哥哥对妹妹说：你应该把它画下来。妹妹却说：你应该把它写成一首歌。

         后来Johnny Kennedy有感而发的写了Red Sails In The Sunset 的歌词，再由Hugh Williams 谱上曲调，曲子完成推出，马上在英国风靡一时。1935年夏这首歌曲流传到太平洋彼岸的美国，也大受欢迎，并由Bing Crosby 等当时著名的歌手灌录成唱片。
